** Won't you please share the joy of WYFP by recommending?
WYFP is our community's Saturday evening gathering to talk about our problems, empathize with one another, and perhaps share advice. Everyone and all sorts of troubles are welcome. May we find peace and healing here. :-)
First, I've already thanked him but I want to thank Michael (Musing85) again for posting WYFP last week!! He did a fine job. And I want to apologize to everyone who was looking for it at the usual time--I actually forgot about it till I got up Sunday morning. I have no excuse except that.
Furthermore, I didn't get you anything for Christmas. I respect that you're not materialistic people (right??) and that what you would really most like is peace on earth or something like that, which I can't afford. Though I wish I could; if we can buy it on an installment plan by individual acts of caring about one another's effing problems, then I hope we will do that. I saw the Dalai Lama give a talk one time, the gist of which was that world peace starts with inner peace, and I think in a sense that is also the Christmas story. It starts with a pregnancy, and peace among us is as sweet, small and needy as a baby. If we don't take good care of Peace (and it is easy to see why we don't since it really does cost us), the cosmic Child Protection Service whisks her away.
So we look for someone to blame, impeach, impear, impineapple, or hang by the neck until dead, as a ritual denunciation of the lack of peacefulness, and a way to feel less agonizingly defeated about it. It does cheer some of the people up, while upsetting or depressing others, and it doesn't restore peace. Peace is in foster care, the littlest and most sensitive in a rowdy and busy household, and cries herself to sleep at night because she can't go home.
Incidentally, Joy is living in Mudville with her cousin Prudence and working as a waitress; please tip generously, because she is also trying to save up for a ticket home. Chastity slipped in a gutter and was run over by a brewery wagon, sustaining gruesome injuries. Please pray for her. Timmie and Lassie both fell down a well and drowned. Elvis Presley, fortunately, has been retired fifteen years and living like a king in Patagonia. Frodo also lives.
I was going to say something serious, but I don't think I had a clear idea what that was in the first place, so I will just finish by saying may the force be with you, and may you live long and prosper in the new year. We have effing problems we need to talk about, we have a little love jingling in the pockets of our hearts, let's spend it on peace tonight! :-)
